The car park at Durdle Door doesn't tend to be open this early and parking on the road further along has been made not possible due to the implementation of double yellow lines. I totally understand the reason for this as this beautiful unique location has become very iconic and a bit of tourist hotspot which appears to attract a lot of social media enthusiasts and people that just don't seem to care. Which means there is a bit of a litter problem here. They take their crap down with them but aren't willing to bring it back up when they're done. I do not understand this behaviour. This somewhat saddens me as the litter problem seems to be getting worse and worse. This is now widespread among many towns and cities across Britain.
This is one of the reasons why I like to get up early or put the effort in to get to a location. To get here on this particular morning I parked at Lulworth at around 5am and walked the 1.5 miles up the coast path over the hill to get to Durdle Door. I was the only one here on this particular morning which is just how I like it. That's what I call winning at life and look at what I was rewarded with. Colour in the sky and mist rolling over the sea cliffs. |
