This image took some planning. In order to keep the photograph authentic I chose my spot within the blue hour at 7pm when the tide was high. I then took the first image for the tank when there was still enough light to retain the detail. then I waited in the same spot for around about 2 hours for the stars to come out and the Milky Way to align itself above the tank. I took a second shot for the stars. I did it this way to keep the detail in the tank but also to make sure that the image was true to how it happened.
At this time I'm not that well equipped for Astro Photography and it's not something I do that often. Standing around for 2 hours listening to hundreds of pink footed geese passing over in the cold has it's challenges. However I'm very pleased with this and feel this is something I should pursue every now and then.
I do have a sunset version of this image, click above to see. |
